Admission Procedure

After the end of the application period, the Admission Board will examine the documents of every applicant. This may take up to 1-2 months, as we are experiencing a very high number of applicants to our Computer Science BSc course lately. Please note that we cannot accept applications after the deadline. Also please understand that it is your responsibility to make sure that you submitted every compulsory document and that they are of good quality (they are readable) - if you failed to do so, your application may be rejected.

There are many factors taken into account when deciding about an applicant. Every applicant is examined individually, but the number of applicants and their general quality may also play a role in the decision. Nevertheless, below you can read shortly about how the admission procedure works and what we are looking for in applicants.

General Requirements

Applicants naturally are expected to have a qualification which is comparable to the Hungarian secondary school finishing certificate. We are looking for students who generally had good grades in high school, especially on the final exam (if there is one in the applicant's country). The most important subjects are Mathematics and English, since a student will need a solid knowledge of both to be successful at our course.A language exam (such as IELTS or TOEFL) is not required if you had good grades from English, but it could give you an advantage.

Further Examinations

If an applicant satisfies our general requirements, then in most cases he/she will be asked to participate in a Skype interview as well. In this interview, we want to make sure that the applicant can speak and understand English at an intermediate level. Those who apply to our course through one of the available scholarship opportunities (e.g. Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship) will be examined a bit more strictly to make sure that they have the necessary Mathematics skills to be successful at our course. This is because scholarship students are expected to do well during their studies in order to keep their scholarship. Every applicant will be informed beforehand in email about the contents of this interview.

After Admission

Admitted students will have to write an entry test in the beginning of September at the Faculty. Failing this test indicates that the student is not yet in the possession of the skills necessary to be successful at our BSc course. In this case, the student will be redirected to our Preliminary Semester, where he/she will study courses designed to prepare students for the BSc.
